Lets start with an after picture
Ah isn't it beautiful.
Our house is by no means a 'fixer upper' but it is
boring builder grade, so no character whatsoever, which really doesn't fit with me and honey buns taste. So we have slowly been trying to add a little somethin' somethin' one room at a time. Hubs is trying to get me to only work on one project at a time, I currently have about 5 projects in the works so our house is a disaster zone. Anyway, onto the guest bedroom. Here is a before:
Its not terrible.. But its boring, a little bit dark, and cold, and a little too 70's with all the brown/orange. so I had the brilliant idea of repainting this room with a warm color, brightening up the trim and framing in the windows. So, we got to work:
We took apart the entire room
Picked a paint color, (tawny birch by glidden) which isn't as yellow as it is looking in these pictures, oh well. It really didn't take nearly as long as I figured it would. Then we went to Home depot and got some basic wood trim and then one piece of some fancy stuff. Hubs cut the wood to frame in the windows and then we cut the fancy trim to rest on top and cut the sides at a 30 degree angle. Nailed in some finishing nails and painted and viola!
I love it, its cozy and warm and exactly what we wanted. All for about 20 bucks! I'm currently looking for a new headboard, possible an old wooden door? we will see. For now I'm happy with what we have, more to come!
